UDC Farmer Luncheon

Home > UDC Farmer Luncheon

January 4, 2022

Farmers from South Australia through to Simpson came together to hear renowned chef Guy Grossi and Consultant Paul Groves, speak at the UDC supplier luncheon on December 9.

UDC’s Monique Jeffries said the luncheon was held at Woolsthorpe’s Union Station Hotel and was the first supplier get-together since February 2020, due to COVID.

“It was a great day with a focus on linking everyone together, from farmers to processors, consumers and our customers, while enjoying a delicious lunch,” Monique said.

“Guy Grossi was one of our guest speakers and he spoke about the impacts of COVID on his business and his workforce.

“He spoke about his part in the supply chain and how he had to adapt quickly with COVID for his business to survive.”

Guy spoke about the challenges of adapting his business, which now only has two-thirds of his previous 140-strong workforce.

“While business has picked up, sourcing staff is a new problem the business has to deal with.

Consultant Paul Groves also spoke at the luncheon about succession planning and the importance of starting the conversation early.

“It was a great day. There was a really positive vibe and it was gr at to see everyone together again.”
