The droving team and transport operators are reaping the OH&S benefits of a new electronic loading ramp in the Midfield yards.
Drover Sean Waterson said the new automated ramp had streamlined the unload procedure and made it easier for staff and livestock alike.
“Previously we only had a single ramp and livestock on the top deck of a truck would have to wait for the driver to drop their internal ramp so they could exit,” Sean said.
“Now we just press a button and the electronic ramp raises to meet the top deck of the truck.”
Unloading a B-double now takes less than half the time it did previously. “The electronic ramp saves us huge amounts of time because the cattle don’t have such a steep incline to exit.
“You can unload a B-double in minutes now, which ultimately increases the flow into the shed and has flow on benefits throughout the processing chain.”
